Interlude 9:  Synchronicity

The Universe is aware, sentient, and can receive and project thoughts.  It is a being of sorts.  Is it capable of reproduction?  How about self-repair?  Or locomotion?  Unknown, but it is growing, i.e., expanding, creating new Space.  Can it die?  There are scenarios where it could.  Such as its dissipation to nothingness.  Or possibly, torn apart at the atomic level, every last atom. Those who sought resolutions to the above questions searched and delved deep and found answers.

Also, an attempt was made to measure the extent of the Progenitor’s consciousness.  The breadth of its self-awareness.  What did it know about itself, and what was the scope of that self-knowledge?  A related question is – how does any being know itself?  Answer: by comparing itself to others.  By assessments and comparisons against a standard.  Were there any?  The answer is yes – many billions.  They were the beings who resided within, for they were both part of, and apart from, the oneness of itself.  And when they first communicated, the entity that is the Cosmos rejoiced, for it knew that through them, it could find self-knowledge.

The Great Manifolds, the Nimbi, slowly meandered through the locus, the enclave of the First-Born, Pleasantville as I like to think of it.  And it changed.  It was not the same as it was before.  Its constituent parts were disassociated and then re-associated into something else.  If the residents had stayed, they too would have undergone a similar fate.  And disassociation, also known as annihilation, is a rather intolerable thought to an immortal.  So, they left and went elsewhere.  But before they did, decisions had to be made.

“Where shall we go?”  The younger beings, the ones unaccustomed to the making of such momentous decisions, sought guidance.  For the alternatives and the complications were many.

A deep sonorous refrain filled the emptiness: “We shall go home.”  Sensations of warmth and gladness radiated among many.

Still, fear permeated many Presences.  For the force which had attacked was still unknown and at large.  Flee, or fight, the options were few.  A third way could not be divined.  Communicate?  With what?

“We shall build new Loci, many more, deep within the Aether.  And wait, watch, and learn.”

“Yes.”  This affirmation reverberated and was accepted by many: “Such is our history.  We observed, and we learned.  And became what we are.”

Many swelled in this self-knowledge, exalting in the magnitude of their being.

“No.”  This negation was also heard, equally loud.  And so, the First-Born split.  Some remained to confront, some went home, and some went elsewhere, searching the unknown for answers.  Answers to the big question:  Who were the Others?

Synchronicity.  This is an interesting concept, first explained by the noted psychiatrist Carl Jung.  It deals with meaningful coincidences.  And coincidences, by definition, appear without apparent causal connection.  Or equally, they appear as the result of non-causal connections.  But we know from ‘4,3’ that all things are connected.  Indeed, some call this ‘The Law of Connections.’   Ergo, the question must be asked:  If all things are connected, then what are non-causal connections?  In other words, what precipitates these meaningful coincidences, i.e., synchronicity?

Many religions hold that an omniscient deity created the Universe and knows all, past and future.  That all is and was pre-determined.  Perhaps the Mother is that entity, for she gives birth to all, but I do not know.  However, it is known that the Progenitor revels in the acquisition of knowledge; knowledge, by definition, of itself.   How was this fact learned?  By cause and effect primarily.  As the Progenitor attained knowledge, it responded positively, in the many ways it has to communicate – fluctuations in the background radiation, vibrations in the web of Space-Time, but not in the gamma-ray bursts.  They were, quite simply, cries of pain.  Eventually, the Progenitor became aware of the Great Continuum of Species, which was to become its main conduit for self-knowledge.  And when a new species was ready to emerge, it rejoiced at the prospects of the possible acquisition of new knowledge.  New knowledge of itself.  And its parameters vacillated a little.  And thus, causality was affected.  Events were given a little push, causing them to repeat in strange ways, overlap a little, as they swirled in the vast sea of Space-Time.  Synchronicity happens.  And the happening is not non-causal.  For the cause is the Progenitor itself, expressing its gladness.

Universes are peculiar entities, though I must admit, I only know one, and that, primarily, from hearsay evidence.

Sha’ush:

My personal term is Sha’ush Tan-Teen.  Existence; a sub-collective within the most esteemed Tan-Teen species.  A great many beings we were, though, with time, our voices merged to one.

Our ascension was difficult, arising from a hostile and difficult phylogenesis, taking longer than most.  Arising from a highly aggressive homeworld.  But through vigilance and acute sentience, we overcame and achieved our place in the Great Continuum and entered the Locus.  As such, our predilection is to watch, to monitor the boundaries, and expand the reaches of our awareness.  In so doing, we observed the breaches – the great rifts in the husk of our Progenitor.  For that accomplishment, we were exalted.

I engaged in the Great Resolution, the effort to repair and heal our home Universe.  Another Fleet was built, capable of channeling those vast accretions of substance – the Manifolds; to staunch the rifts from without, as the Caretakers worked from within.  The restoration was successful, though our Loci was forfeit.  Many craft were left to patrol and protect.  But I was free to go.  Renewing old alliances, I returned to my Progenitor.  Purpose?  To build a new home.
